Careers

Find your future in Modern Britain.

We believe that every young person needs good career guidance to make informed decisions about their future. We understand that good career guidance is a necessity for social mobility: those young people without significant social capital or home support to draw upon have the most to gain from a strong career guidance system.

Careers education is delivered within the Pastoral and taught curriculum, and through collaboration with external agencies, education providers and local employers. The programme forms part of the mandatory requirements set by the DfE and meets Gatsby Benchmarks, and allows pupils to make wise and informed choices about their future.

Strategic Planning

Careers education is delivered within the Pastoral and taught curriculum, and through collaboration with external agencies, education providers and local employers. The programme forms part of the mandatory requirements set by the DfE and meets Gatsby Benchmarks, and allows pupils to make wise and informed choices about their future.

Each year, the group follows a sequence of learning that builds careers' knowledge and an understanding of employment sectors, using up-to-date National and Local LMI. This is done through assemblies, taught curriculum and additional enrichment experiences, visits and talks. These are planned with LMI and year group knowledge and skills gaps in mind.

Pupils develop employability skills and self-awareness through planned careers opportunities.

The sequenced curriculum leads pupils from introducing and investigating careers in Chapter 3, through to preparing for next steps in Year 11 and support for Post-16 learning and training.

Our careers programme is reviewed regularly using pupil voice and the Compass Plus evaluation process.
