Matford Brook Academy is part of the Ted Wragg Trust, a family of schools located across Exeter, Plymouth and East Devon.
Named after the educationalist Ted Wragg, our Trust is rooted in his belief that education is about people, not structures. These principles shape who we are. We believe in the power of local schools working together to deliver an excellent education for every child, close to home.

Ted Wragg Choir
Our Ted Wragg Choir brings together student and staff representatives from across our schools, performing together at events such as the Devon County Show and the Ted Wragg Awards.
Leadership, Enrichment and Specialist Experiences
We offer access to a wide range of leadership, enrichment and specialist experiences that may not be available within a single school, helping pupils develop confidence, ambition and a lifelong love of learning.
Leadership and Student Voice
Alongside school-based opportunities, we offer extra student leadership and voice opportunities to help our young people grow their experience, skills and confidence. From our Sixth Form students mentoring younger students to our Trust Student Parliament, which is launching in 2026/27.
Specialist Experiences
Through partnerships with organisations including Exeter College, students can access specialist learning experiences that broaden horizons. From the Junior Chef Academy, which brings together aspiring young cooks for a series of hands-on sessions, to our Sixth Form Conference offering university workshops and wellbeing support.
Outdoor Challenge and Enrichment
Students are offered opportunities beyond the classroom to discover new interests, challenge themselves and create lasting memories. Outdoor activities such as the Exe Valley Challenge, Ten Tors and Duke of Edinburgh encourage teamwork, resilience and a sense of adventure.
