Rachel Higginson who was part of the original team formed by Sam Kinsella and part of the shadowing board was also on the interview panel.

Emily is excited to be the founding headteacher of Matford Brook Academy and said:

“The educational landscape in the South West, and Exeter in particular, is increasingly at the forefront of educational initiatives. I could not be more pleased to be joining the Ted Wragg Trust to lead on this next step and help to found a school community from the beginning.

All-through schools are an excellent model for education that empowers children to believe they can, and should, change the world around them. I look forward to meeting families and members of the local community soon and welcoming our first cohort of pupils for September 2023.”

As part of this ambitious and inclusive Trust of schools, Emily will be working together with outstanding leaders and teachers from across the Ted Wragg Trust, along with parents and the local community, to provide a warm, happy and successful school community, with high standards that deliver excellent education in order to transform lives,  strengthen communities to make the world a better place.
